Officer of the Day (OOTD)
Each EYC member is obligated to spend one day each year as OOTD. A member's family need contribute only one person to this duty (but if spouses are keen, don't hesitate to volunteer!). Officers are needed for each Saturday, Sunday and holiday of the sailing season.
Here's how Officer of the Day works:
On your chosen OOTD date, these are your duties (based on the webmaster's memory, so... 😜):
Here's how Officer of the Day works:
- Choose a day to be OOTD from the online signup sheet (days marked FULL have been chosen by someone else).
- If something comes up that prevents you from executing OOTD duties on your chosen day, write well in advance to Carol Hurst, [email protected], to arrange a swap with another member.
- On your chosen day, arrive no later than 9:00 AM. You can depart at 4:30.
On your chosen OOTD date, these are your duties (based on the webmaster's memory, so... 😜):
- Greet visitors. It's common for people to come looking for details on the club and to scope out the facilities. Please be welcoming and sing our charms!
- Prepare the whaler for use, in case of emergency.
- Do you own a mobile VHF radio? Please use it to monitor channel 16.
- Sadly, your OOTD day is not a day for sailing. Please stay on the grounds.
- At some point, inspect all the garbage cans. If full, take the garbage to the wooden boxes at roadside. Of course, install an empty bag (bags are stored in the supply room, on your right as you enter through the north door).
- Ensure the bathrooms have supplies of toilet paper, paper towels and soap.
- Walk both docks. Anything look dodgy? Ask for help if you are not confident.
- Get to know your fellow EYC members! Community is important.
