Officer of the Day (OOTD)

Members of EYC are expected to spend one day each sailing season as Officer of the
Day (OOTD). A member’s family needs to contribute only one person per Officer of the
Day shift. Officers are required for each Saturday, Sunday and statutory holiday of the
sailing season. Sign up for a shift using the online volunteer signup sheet.
  • Sign up for a shift by June 1. If you don’t sign up for a shift, you will be assigned one
  • If you need to change your date as Officer of the Day, please contact Carol Hurst, [email protected] or (825) 440-5981.
  • On your chosen day, please be onsite at EYC from 9 am to 4:30 pm
  • The OOTD is expected to stay onsite. Sadly, it’s not a day for sailing.

General Responsibilities
Officer of the Day is a first point of contact to assist members with any issues that come
up.
  • Keep the clubhouse and grounds clean and tidy
  • Answer questions that members have about the club. Get to know your fellow EYC members! Community is important.
  • Greet visitors. It's common for people to come looking for details on the club and to scope out the facilities. Please be welcoming and sing our charms!
  • Ensure that the Boston Whaler is available for use.

Also
  • Walk both docks and check the mooring lines. Tidy up lines blocking the walkway. Check often on an easterly wind.
  • If you own a mobile VHF radio, use it periodically to monitor channel 16.

End of Day
  • Sign and date the OOTD logbook. Make a note of any supplies that need replenishing or significant occurrences during the day.
  • Lock the front and side door of the clubhouse.
