It appears someone started our whaler's 40 HP motor while the boat was out of the water. This prevented the motor from drawing in and circulating cooling lake water, leading to overheating and the destruction of the motor's impeller (water pump).
While the motor is being repaired, we have put our Sailing School's zodiac on the stand that normally holds the whaler. The zodiac also has a 40 HP motor.
Follow this sequence of events:
Always a good idea to check there is water coming out of the motor (proving the impeller is circulating "coolant").
