David Darlington, our new Fleet Captain, has written with this overview of the upcoming racing season...
The June/spring series is being run by Sunshine Bay so we will need no volunteers for that. The dates for the spring series are as follows : 29 May, 7 June, 12 June, 19 June. This is new as we usually run the spring series only in June. The cost is $40 or $10 for a single day. There will be daily winners and an overall winner at the end.
Lawrence Lemieux will be holding a Sail trim & racing seminar Saturday 11 June.
Saturday 25 June is the Down the Lake race run by EYC. We will hold a BBQ in the evening with people bringing there own meat, we will provide salads, potatoes and desserts. We will need volunteers for the race and dinner if we can get them.
Saturday 9 July SBYC will host the Single Handed Race with BBQ to follow. BBQ the same as the down the lake race ie bring your own meat.
Sunday 17 July EYC will host the McGregor Race with BBQ to follow. BBQ the same with bring your own meat. This race depends upon how many people sign up. I believe it was cancelled last year due to lack of boats signed up. If it happens this year we will need volunteers.
Monday 1 August we have the Dinghy race and will need volunteers.
Saturday 20 August is the Jack & Jill race hosted by SBYC with BBQ and dance to follow.
The Alberta Cup Regatta hosted by EYC starts Saturday 3 September and ends Sunday 4 with BBQ. We will need volunteers for this event.
