Racing on Wabamun Lake

Racing is a great way to improve sailing skills while having fun and enjoying a little friendly competition and the camaraderie of your fellow sailors. A good way to learn is to crew on someone else’s boat. We keep a members-only page of people who want to crew on others' boats).

The 2022 racing schedule is here.

Weekend races are typically conventional races with all boats starting at the same time with elapsed times adjusted based on boats' PHRF ratings. Typically two races are run per day.

Wednesday night races are Pursuit Racing with staggered start times based on PHRF ratings. The race lasts one hour and whoever is in front at the end wins.

For more information, EYC members should contact Fleet Master Mike Morrison, fleetmaster@edmontonyachtclub.ca.

EYC collaborates with SBYC to run the races. Their Fleet Master is
Bonnie Reib, fleetcaptain@sunshinebay.org.

From time to time, racing news is posted to the Racing category on our blog.

Sail Canada sells The Racing Rules of Sailing. We typically lay out our races using one of these two designs:
