Public Works respectfully asks residents to keep the following in mind:
  • Garbage must be bagged in a BLACK bag.
  • Compost and lake weeds must be bagged in a CLEAR bag.
  • Dog waste must NOT be put in your compost. Contaminated compost will not be picked up.
  • Bags should be no smaller than 74L.
  • Bags should be no heavier than 35lbs. or 16kg.
  • Please tie your garbage bags securely in a knot.
  • Garbage receptacles must have secure lids to prevent animals & the weather from making a mess.
  • Garbage bins should be kept inside a garbage stand or box. Bags should never be exposed to the elements or placed on top of your bins.
  • Please double bag glass/jars to avoid glass breaking and tearing your garbage bag.
  • Please keep your garbage cans clean and wash out any toxic residue as often as necessary.
  • Cardboard should be flattened & stacked beside the garbage. If you have multiple boxes, they should be flattened and tied together nicely.
  • NO fish or animal carcasses. Public Works will NOT pick up if the garbage can is full of little bags, or loose garbage.
  • If it is necessary for Public Works to clean up scattered garbage from your property, there will be a minimum $50.00 clean-up fee
