Coal Point Buoy Installed

5/26/2015

AOSA's Bob Schimmel writes, "Al Day plopped the Coal Point Cardinal buoy last weekend.  We sailed past it last Wednesday and noticed the depth was about 10'.  It's in the same location as always."

Al and Vicky sail Gazoo, the 28' 7" Columbia moored to ball #17. Coal Point is perhaps six km from Seba Beach on the north shore of the lake.

Point Stobbe Cardinal Buoy

5/24/2015

Received from AOSA's Bob Schimmel today, "The Point Stobbe[1] buoy is out.  I placed it today in about 10' of water.  Be cautious when approaching it from the East.  I think the shallows have moved out that way.  The reeds are already surfacing."

[1] Named after John & Avery Stobbe of SBYC. Point Stobbe is
the reed bed on your port side as you enter Sunshine Bay. "You can see it from EYC if you drink two beers or less!", as one old salt puts it.

Regatta on St. Mary’s Reservoir

5/22/2015

From Richard Quinlan, St. Mary’s Regatta Chair...

Hello Edmonton Yacht Club Sailors:

Please consider this a personal invitation to members of the Edmonton Yacht Club to journey south on the weekend of June 13-14 to attend the St. Mary’s Sailing Club 60th Anniversary Regatta. We welcome all levels of sailors and all classes of dinghies and catamarans. I have attached a “notice of event”. St. Mary’s is an older club but the club has had it’s share of difficulties and has been on a low ebb for many years. We are now gaining some momentum in a rebuilding phase and are hoping to make our “60th” a big and all-embracing event for Alberta’s sailing community! Please pass along this invitation to your sailing club members. If you have any questions about the event I encourage you to contact me at this email address or on my talk/text cell phone 403-393-5930.

Dock update

5/15/2015

Harbour Master Dwayne wrote early this (Friday) morning, "The South dock gangway has been repaired. It seems a bolt neglected to go to where it was intended. All the boats are holding up, but as Dan [Smith] said snubbers are essential on the docks. The docks themselves are holding up as expected, with a minimal ammount of tweeking."
