Onboarding: The Lake

This page aims to answer the question, "When onboarding a new EYC member, what are the important things they should learn about the docks, the mooring field and the lake in general?"
  • The Harbour Master and Assistant Harbour Master are board members who manage the "wet" side of things. Their contact info is here.
  • Docks: If you have an assigned dock space, a Master will show you how to safely attach your boat to the space. Please follow these simple rules:
    • No running on the docks.
    • Children under 12 must wear a personal flotation device on the docks when unsupervised. All children under 6 must wear a PFD on the docks.
    • No fishing from the docks.
  • Mooring field: if your boat will be attached to a mooring ball, one of the Masters will show you the safest way to attach your boat.
  • Securing your boat well will help it ride the stiff east winds.
  • In the spring, Docks In is a big event, when all members help to install the docks and mooring field.
  • In the fall, Docks Out is our last big work event, when we all help remove the docks and mooring field from the lake for winter storage.
