Diesel maintenance is important for any sailor who does offshore trips. All bigger sailboats are equipped with an inboard diesel engine. Understanding how these engines work, their common problems, and how to fix them will add peace of mind while at sea.
The course will be split into three days, with a discount if you choose to take all three courses:
- Day 1: Basic Maintenance covers the physics and theory of how diesel engines work
- Day 2: Troubleshooting goes over how to troubleshoot and fix a diesel engine; this course is all hands on as students go through 2 engines until they run properly
- Day 3: Advanced Diagnostics gives students an advanced knowledge of the inner workings of a diesel engine. Students will take apart the engines and see how different components look from the inside.
Each course costs $225 CAD, $525 if you sign up for all three. Basic Maintenance is a prerequisite for the other two courses. Contact Victoria Sailing School (email@example.com, 303-668-2943) or Glenmore Sailboats (firstname.lastname@example.org, 403-266-3055).
Here is the Registration Form[*] which can be mailed to the school or to Glenmore. Here are details on the classes (special pricing applies to Calgary; the website shows USD pricing for Denver classes).
