Sunshine Bay Yacht Club's Murray Erickson provides these notes re the Pursuit Racing Start Times [see spreadsheet on this members only page]
This is not a complete list of all the boats currently in SBYC or EYC. This was made from an old list, but I tried to use current info, regarding PHRF calculations. Some of these boats may have changed owners. If your boat is not listed here, or if some info regarding your boat is incorrect, please contact your Fleet Captain and/or Murray Erickson, and we will get your info updated on this list, ASAP.
Please note, only 1 boat listed on this spreadsheet should start at 19:00:00, and that is the Edel 540. Every other boat will be starting later that 19:00:00. The right hand column has your start time listed. You do not actually have to synchronize your watch with the committee boat, at the start of each race. You can listen for the Starting Sequence, which is
Your start time will now be whatever is listed after the 19: in the right
column. For example, if your boat is a Bayfield 25, with a PHRF of 270, your start time will be 19:02:45 (2 minutes and 45 seconds after the fourth horn has sounded).
If your boat is a Catalina 27, with a PHRF of 210, your start time will be 19:06:55. (or 6 minutes and 55 seconds after the fourth horn has sounded).
Fleet Captain Sasha Matic reports these results for June 27's Down the Lake Race:
It all ended with amazing Tiki Dinner and Tiki party afterward, with more then 50 people attending from both SBYC and EYC. Everything organized by Jo-Ann and Jeff Willis with help from their volunteers.
An important message from Pat MacDonald, Sunshine Bay Yacht Club's Fleet Captain...
Hello all SBYC & EYC members,
Much appreciation should be afforded to Murry Erickson for taking the time to review and revise the PHRF Handicap ratings for most of the boats within the two yacht clubs at Wabamun Lake. We have included the ratings that we plan to use and the respective Start Times for all boats in the Pursuit Racing that begins Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 PM. [Look for your boat in the document on this members only web page]
The Start Times will also be posted at SBYC and EYC clubhouses.
If you have any questions or concerns with the PHRF-based Start Time that you have been assigned please feel free to contact either Fleet Captain to discuss [Pat, Sasha].
Please note, the time for your boat is very specific and it is up to you to ensure that your boat does not cross the starting line prior to your time. That is your responsibility.
Please note, we will be providing a 3-legged course (3 markers) for these races as opposed to the 2-legged sausage course of the past. As the diagram exhibits, there are upwind beats, broad reaches and downwind runs included in the course.
We would appreciate it greatly if you and your crew were to familiarize yourselves with the course layout prior to the race.
See you out on Wednesday evening for some fun racing. May the winds be favourable.
