This page of the EYC website provides public access to documents the
Edmonton Yacht Club has prepared to amend a License of Occupation (LOC). Part of the revised regulatory
process involves obtaining a letter of
consent from the "upland land owner", the Summer Village of Seba Beach
(SVSB) who owns the land between the lake and the lots owned by the EYC. Then
approval from Transport
Canada, Navigable Waters regarding the navigational propriety of the plan
and Alberta Sustainable Development for an amendment to our existing
LOC is required before EYC can place what
is referred to as a "works" in and on Lake Wabamum to allow us to dock
and moor for our member's boats. EYC has over 60 years of continuous service
to the community with our activities at Seba Beach. Your support is requested
for this proposal so that we may continue this recreational legacy.

Our Commodore has written as a cover letter for a direct mail-out that includes these documents being sent to many in the Seba Beach region.
This
"plan view" of the mooring field and dock layout with an indication
of the alterations from last year's configuration is probably the most
informative document related to our proposal. This diagram has been modified
for our final submission to the Summer Village of Seba Beach after our
public forum held 6 March to widen the navigational channel to 30M. A revised
drawing will be placed on the website in the near future.
One of the major factors that the club had to address was the needs
of keel boats drawing 3 to 6 feet of draft under their water-line during
wind storms and wave action. This
profile of the lake bottom in front of the club provides
the rationale behind the design to accomodate these keel boats. The profile
provides a detailed look at those constraints which required all aspects
of the works to be further into the lake than would have been required
had the depth of the water increased more rapidly close to shore.
Over time after this plans approval, all of the clubs moorings will be moved
and new equipment installed in a much tighter mooring field. The club
members will incur significant expense implementing these changes.
Details of the new mooring equipment and a layout of the proposed mooring
field complete with the swing circles described by member boats responding
to shifts in the wind direction is depicted in this drawing
.
